Hybrid Intelligence Podcast – Exploring Optimism with David Sheldon Hicks

Innovation in the media space, the tensions of running a creative business and lessons learned from working with some of the world’s leading film directors including Ridley Scott, Denis Villeneuve and David Fincher are just some of the topics in my conversation with David Sheldon Hicks the Founder of Territory Studio in this episode of our Hybrid Intelligence Podcast.

If you are not familiar with Territory Studio you’ve almost certainly seen some of their work. The studio began life specialising in motion graphics for things like gaming and content creation. Today, David and his team, from their offices in London, New York and San Francisco, work in a wide variety of areas including automotive UI, experiential design for spaces such as museums and special effects for feature films for example Prometheus, Guardians of The Galaxy and Blade Runner 2049.

We’ve partnered with Territory on one of our automotive projects and they are a pleasure to work with. David and I also have regular conversations about what’s happening in our respective domains so I was delighted to welcome him to the podcast for a chat about optimism and a few tangents.

Four episodes into this exploration of optimism, I’m finding something new from the conversations with each of my guests. One of the standout framings of optimism from David here is the beautifully simple idea that optimism will be more useful to you than pessimism. I love that.
